This week we announced the winner of our second annual Facing Cancer Together Co-Survivor Award. We launched this award last year to give Canadian women with cancer a chance to recognize those special people who lend all kinds of support to those of us facing a diagnosis. Often, the efforts of these special people – we call them co-survivors – go unnoticed, though certainly not unappreciated. This award is a way for Canadian women to say ‘thank you’ to their special co-survivor and publicly acknowldge all they do. Our 2016 award winner, Amanda, supported her mom, Rea, through diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. In her nomination, Rea praised Amanda for her “endurance, humility, and patience” as she assumed the role of caregiver for her mom. I encourage you to read Amanda’s story and those of our Top 10 finalists. Watch for more special stories over the next several weeks.
As I undergo treatment for my own recent breast cancer diagnosis, I am fortunate to have a great number of cheerleaders sending good wishes my way and reminding me that I am not alone. I recently received some lovely and empowering messages from the Shoppers Drug Mart Cosmetics team from Atlantic Canada. Along with their best wishes, they included some inspirational memes and photos. I know these bits of wisdom lifted my spirits, and so I wanted to share them with all of you, with the hope that they give you a boost, too.
PS: You can enjoy a different kind of boost this weekend – a beauty boost – thanks again to Shoppers Drug Mart and their SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU. Program . On April 30, stores across Canada are hosting the Spring Beauty Gala. Tickets are just $10; $5 of that is donated to women’s health charities supporting women fighting the effects of cancer and the other $5 is yours to spend toward any cosmetic purchase made duting the gala. Funds raised across the Prairie and Atlantic provinces support our free Look Good Feel Better workshop program, so you can feel great about getting gorgeous! Many thanks to our friends at Shoppers for your support!

Wishing you much strength and positivity throughout the journey you will be taking . We never know what is ahead of us in life but I truly believe we are only given what we can handle. My mother is a vibrant 84 year old who had breast cancer nearly 20 years ago now. She did what she had to do and has never looked back. This in turn has made us (her family). Live a little more ... Take a few chances ...and enjoy the good in every day. Wishing you health and happiness ... ❤

You are such an inspiration to all women and a tireless ambassador for "Look Good Feel Better". Your visits to Atlantic Canada and our store in particular, are some of the reasons we are so passionate about this fundraising effort.
"And He will raise you up on eagle's wings
Bear you on the breathe of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you in the palm of His hand"
Wishing you a speedy return to good health!

As a long-term ovarian cancer survivor, I am thrilled that cancer that once threatened my life is gone from my body. Even now, two decades after my diagnosis, I am reminded daily of the impact of cancer on my life. I know without a doubt, that because of the positive support I received, my spirit rallied to see me through the most challenging of times. As the Executive Director of the CCTFA Foundation, I couldn’t be more proud of the opportunity to support women with cancer through Look Good Feel Better and Facing Cancer Together.
