In the shadow of my cancer recovery and my father's cancer journey, I am saddened by the courageous battle that my mother- in-law is giving. Her cancer is palliative and yet she puts on the wig consumed by exhaustion in bed. We had a talk: What makes her sad is all the things she misses at her house but I reminded her that she has everyone right here. That is the most beautiful thing life can give you - those amazing people who stand by your side or call you up with a sixth sense of knowing that you needed that call. It is up to you to rise to their offer - go out with them, let them be a listener, take them up on a movie or coffee and don't dwell in the negative.
So it is this special person who reminded me that above everything this holiday season, it all comes down to family and friends - it's the people who count - the rest is just "stuff"
It's Not What's Important, it's Who's important..
In this season, we rush to the store
Important gifts and who to buy for
Really, however, it's all just stuff
if we look around we all have enough
The priceless gifts money can't buy
Are friends and family on who we rely
They are there to hold your hand
And pick you up and help you stand
Recall good moments , there at your side
When things are rough, in them confide
Money can't buy them, they're grown from the heart
The truest of bond that love cannot part
They will be there night and day
Ease your fears to find your way
Cheer you up and make you smile
Give a hug and stay a while
Your spirit brings them when the road is tough
Remember, it's who's important, not the STUFF
